Why Toddy Coffee Makers?

For those of us living in this nutrition conscious world that would like maintain our balance and still drink our coffee occasionally, we can Cold Press it with a Toddy Coffee Maker.  We are a nation of people who love our coffee. So much so that many of us drink a lot of coffee and unfortunately, it’s about the most acidic beverage we can drink. With the Toddy Cold Brew System you can reduce acid 70% through cold pressing!

How this works is that coffee really gains most of it’s acidity from the hot brew cycle (the heat process in our coffee maker). Cold pressing simply removes that part of the process and creates a concentrate that you would place in the bottom of your coffee cup and simply add boiling water. Or like me, brew espresso and make hot by adding cool water and store in the refrigerator for Iced Lattes or Iced Mochas.

Most people have told us this coffee tastes like the Hawaiian Kona Coffee because it is so smooth – it’s smooth because cold pressing the coffee reduces bitterness. Using organic coffee helps as well and I like French Roast or espresso beans.

How this process works is simple, you cold press once a week or once every 10 days and keep the concentrate in the refrigerator where it is available whenever you need it.

Cold pressed coffee can be taken on the road, and a big wow is it can be found at some of the better coffee houses (they use cold press use for making frozen coffee drinks) – all you have to do is ask them to use the concentrate to make your cup of java! I have them make soy latte with the concentrate. And for those wondering, I occasionally make cold and hot at home and will serve it at parties as well!                    Enjoy!

How To, Toddy Cold Brew

A roasted coffee bean contains many compounds, which are extracted during the brewing process. Some of those compounds including certain oils and fatty acids soluble only at high temperature. Cold brewing extracts the attractive flavor compounds (and the caffeine), but leaves behind many of the oils and fatty acids that give hot brewed coffee the familiar 'bite' and make it difficult for many with sensitive stomachs to digest. Coffee made with Toddy concentrate tastes smoother and is easier on the stomach. We like to say it tastes like coffee smells.

Cold Brewing Easy as 1, 2, 3

1.) Simply put one pound of ground coffee (normal to coarse grind) in the plastic brewing container and add 9 cups of cold water.

2.) Let the mixture steep overnight (8-12 hours) and then drain the concentrate through the filter into the glass carafe.

3.) Keep the concentrate in the refrigerator. Add one part concentrate to three parts water and heat for a hot cup of coffee, or serve over ice for a delicious iced coffee.
